Our offer to the arts

Board Services

Effective boards understand their role and responsibilities, work together successfully, and possess the right range of skills. An effective board makes a vital contribution to the success of an organisation: an ineffective board can stifle growth. We offer a range of opportunities for arts organisations and their boards, helping them to fulfil their potential through strong and effective governance.

Board Bank
Business knowledge and experience can have a huge impact on an arts organisation’s board, helping to ensure the long term health of the creative sector. Board Bank consists of business managers with specialist skills who wish to make an effective contribution to arts organisations by becoming non-executive directors and trustees. Prior to carefully matching them with an appropriate board, we train all potential candidates in good practice.

Facilitated Board Away Day
An A&B trainer facilitates sessions for individual boards, looking in detail at their key responsibilities. Focusing on issues which are specific to each organisation, the training is bespoke and can cover all areas from the role of the board in employment, finance and advocacy, to policy and planning.

Making the Most of Your Board
Designed to ensure relationships between arts organisations and their boards are effective, productive and motivating, this one day training session is open to senior arts personnel. Participants are asked to complete a pre-course questionnaire and detail issues they wish to tackle. The agenda is worked out according to these needs.
