The winners of The Arts & Business North Awards 2010 have been announced at a glittering awards ceremony held at the City Inn, Leeds on Tuesday 23 March 2010.
The Arts & Business North Awards, in association with Ove Arup and Partners Limited, the worldwide independent firm of designers, planners, engineers, consultants and technical specialists, celebrate and showcase the best examples of partnerships between culture and commerce throughout the North of England in five categories.
Winners
Arts & Business Community Award, sponsored by City Inn Leeds
Awarded to a partnership that has encouraged specific community engagement with the arts and made a significant contribution to regeneration or sustainable growth.
Winner: Ekspan Limited and Open Door Theatre Company, Sheffield
Arts & Business Cultural Branding Award, sponsored by Potts Printing and Packaging
Awarded to a partnership which has substantially enhanced the business brand profile through culture.
Winner: T&R Theakston and Harrogate International Festivals
Arts & Business Sustained Partnership Award, sponsored by Arts Council England, Yorkshire
Awarded to an established, on-going partnership that continues to set standards in creative arts-business collaborations, the winning business demonstrated future commitment to its arts partner as well as an involvement for a minimum of 3 years.
Winner: Classic FM and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic
Arts & Business People Development Award
Awarded to a partnership that embeds culture as a core element of employee development, the winning business demonstrated significant business improvement through skills enhancement and innovation building.
Winner: Siemens plc and Hallé Concerts Society, Manchester
Arts & Business Board Member of the Year, sponsored by Jaguar UK
Awarded to celebrate an individual who has added outstanding benefit to an arts organisation by giving their time, skills, knowledge, inspiration and strategic direction in a governance role, this category was open to any business individual who has volunteered their time in a governance position for an arts organisation or museum in the UK.
Winner: Peter Buchan and BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead
All eligible shortlisted entries from the North Awards will go through automatically to the National 32nd Arts & Business Awards 2010.
