Following an introduction by Arts & Business, a recently-graduated embroidery student is about to get a fantastic opportunity to showcase her work at the Whitworth Gallery, which is renowned for its textile collection.
The Nordic Intercultural Festival, which is an Arts Member of Arts & Business, is holding its annual celebration of Nordic culture in Manchester for the first time in November 2010. As part of the festival, the Whitworth (who are also Arts Members) will host Scandimania; a weekend of design, film, music, literature and food.

Artist: Mia Kiuru
Mia Kiuru is a recent graduate from Manchester Metropolitan University’s Embroidery degree course. Originally from Finland, her work focuses on her Scandinavian heritage. Shortly after graduating, Mia volunteered with Arts & Business during our Visual display at Manchester’s Buy Art Fair in September 2009.
Eleanor Wotherspoon recently introduced Mia to Ingi Thor Jonsson (founder of the festival), at an exhibition preview at the Whitworth. Since then, Mia has been invited to be part of the Scandimania event through exhibiting her large-scale works at the Whitworth.
It’s great to see Arts & Business bringing various arts partners together and helping to support emerging artists in the North West.
Both the Whitworth Gallery and the Nordic Intercultural Festival are Arts & Business Arts Members.
