"We are delighted to be working with The Midland and our collaboration brings great contemporary art to a superb exhibition space. From a business perspective, Visual provides easy access to professional art and this partnership with The Midland is testament to what can be achieved."

"Arts & Business Visual has provided us with a fantastic opportunity to add another dimension to the hotel. The Midland is a stunning building with a rich history, and now the addition of modern artwork will bring a contemporary feel to the atrium. We are looking forward to seeing the reaction to the art from all our guests."
Mike Magrane, general manager of The Midland

Arts & Business has secured a prestigious commission for four contemporary artists, within Manchester’s landmark hotel, The Midland, through its new Visual initiative. Visual is an inspiring and flexible contemporary art service for business and business people.

The artworks will be located in the atrium at The Midland, providing a stunning focal point for guests visiting the QHotels property. Each individual piece of art will be on display for three months before another artist’s work will take up the prime position.  Guests and visitors will have the opportunity to purchase the work. The four pieces were chosen due to the sympathetic scale and design, which reflected the grandeur and sophistication of the grade ll listed building.

Rebecca Newnham’s botanical glass sculpture, which is the first work to be exhibited, celebrates human life, exploring potential, life cycles and personal growth. Artist, Mat Chivers, explores the moments of process and the states of flux for his piece, working with some seductively beautiful materials including limestone and marble to produce his sculpture. Also to be exhibited, Jo Naden’s abstract bronze work draws inspiration from the landscape and our relationship with it, both individually and through our collective histories.

North West based artists’, Secondnature; a collaborative partnership between a designer and a fine artist, will be the final exhibit to be displayed at the hotel. The pair cross the boundaries of art and design to create innovative and distinctive abstract sculptures by combining digital, traditional drawing and production techniques.
