Arts & Business says ...

"From the favelas and beaches to the skyscrapers of its great cities, Brazil is one of the most exciting countries on earth. Our aim is to find what is at the heart of Brazilian culture today, what the country is thinking about and talking about, and what is behind the quiet revolution of the last 20 years. We share HSBC’s commitment to cultural exchange and furthering knowledge of different cultures, so I am delighted that we are collaborating on Festival Brazil. At a time when London and Rio de Janiero are both Olympic cities, it’s also an opportunity to share ideas and plans."
Jude Kelly, Artistic Director, Southbank Centre

"HSBC's cultural exchange programme aligns the needs and interests of our customers with a deeper understanding of a particular market and its culture. This year the focus is on Brazil, which has proven its economic resilience in the face of the worldwide financial crisis and will be the subject of intense, global interest as the host for both the 2014 Football World Cup and the 2016 Olympics.
At the centre of our programme of international events and partnerships will be HSBC’s sponsorship of Festival Brazil at Southbank Centre, a four month celebration of the vibrancy and excitement of modern Brazil. Cultural Exchange, which concentrated on the emerging economies of India in 2009 and China in 2008, reflects our belief that by understanding a country’s culture, stronger international business relationships can be built."
Stephen Green, Group Chairman, HSBC Holdings plc

"I am very happy to see the growing interest in Brazilian culture in the UK, and Festival Brazil, sponsored by HSBC – which, due to its expanding presence in Brazil, is seen increasingly also as a Brazilian bank – will be an exciting showcase for our talent in arts and music."
HE Carlos Augusto R. Santos-Neves, Ambassador of Brazil to the United Kingdom
