Arts organisations queue up to join The Big Arts Give

Hook

"I am delighted with the uptake for The Arts & Business Big Arts Give.  This not only demonstrates a real appetite in the cultural sector for new ways to fundraise, but also that this enthusiasm is not confined simply to large or London-based arts organisations.  All cultural organisations need to work to secure private money.  We believe this shows a real willingness and ability to adapt to the new funding environment and we will be with them every step of the way. Our Big Arts Give is not about “quick fix” fundraising, but should be used by arts organisations to help develop new supporters and foster a culture of life-long giving.

"With arts budgets about to suffer we are genuinely proud to work with Alec Reed and his Big Give initiative. He trail-blazed online giving and we are delighted we have bought this new digital avenue for fundraising to the arts. It is a pilot year for this scheme, and it looks like the cultural sector is ready to devote more energy to securing new private money.

"Arts & Business research shows that 76% of cultural bodies expect individual giving to be of greater importance in the next three years and they are prioritising this over other sources of private investment for the foreseeable future.  This campaign is already encouraging arts bodies of all sizes to create new wealth and attract new donors. In a new era of pressure on public funding, philanthropy will become ever more vital to the success of arts and cultural organisations. Arts & Business aims to prepare and lead the arts sector by trail-blazing new fundraising initiatives like The Big Arts Give.”

Arts & Business announces the participants for the Big Arts Give as cultural bodies develop new relationship with donors.

At a time when the threat of swingeing cuts to public subsidy for the arts loom large, the 125 arts charities who have successfully applied to take part in Arts & Business’ The Big Arts Give have been announced.  The Big Arts Give aims to dramatically re-animate individual cultural philanthropy in this period of economic difficulty.

Charitable arts and cultural organisations from all nations and regions of the UK are taking part and together aim to raise at least £1m in private sector pledges, which could subsequently result in £3m (plus Gift Aid) being donated to these charities by Christmas.

Since Arts & Business and Alec Reed created a challenge fund of more than £500,000 in April, 145 charities applied to take part.

Arts & Business is promoting this innovative approach for the benefit of arts and cultural charities wishing to develop relationships with new givers. This challenge fund is all about leveraging the maximum potential from your contribution to the arts: £1 from an online donor is matched pound for pound, while every £1 invested by Arts & Business is on course to help generate at least £8 of new cultural wealth through the Big Arts Give.
