Arts & Business says ...

"As the economy recovers from the recession it will be those companies that have promoted their brand effectively, retained the support of their workforce and been good corporate citizens that will emerge the strongest. Thus finding cost effective means to meet these business objectives is crucial and this year’s Award winners highlight just how cost effective and successful arts sponsorship can be in helping meet these key needs."

Barclay Price, National Director,  Arts & Business Scotland

"These awards celebrate the mutual benefits of business support for the arts and give recognition to those who work so hard and are committed to the arts and culture in Scotland. Business sponsorship for the arts in Scotland is around £9 million a year and that shows an outstanding commitment by many businesses to supporting the arts as part of a healthy community.

"Scotland is one of the world’s pre-eminent cultural destinations.  It is a nation that can stand proudly on its record for innovation and creativity.  Investing in culture today is investing in our future, our people, our quality of life and is crucial for empowering our communities and boosting our economy – as is demonstrated by the range and vitality of the partnerships being recognised.  I would like to congratulate all those short listed and thank them all for their invaluable contribution to Scotland."

Michael Russell, Minister for Culture, External Affairs and the Constitution

The 2009 Awards were held in the newly refurbished Usher Hall in Edinburgh on 1 October 2009. Guests from the world of business and culture paid tribute to partnerships across six categories and outstanding individuals in two categories.
